01 Prologue

Project Goals: Transforming Healthcare Management

In 2022 and 2023, I collaborated on a dynamic app MVP development project aimed at optimizing health facilities workflows and medical management for a global medical technologies corporation headquartered in New Brunswick, United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ.

As a UX/UI designer, I led efforts to understand the unique needs of healthcare professionals. My role was to develop a single, integrated solution that would improve various workflows such as scheduling surgeries, selecting doctors for surgeries, managing medical orders, and tracking the delivery process.

03 Research & Analysis

Understanding the Healthcare Ecosystem

My first step was to deeply understand the unique needs and workflows of healthcare professionals. In collaboration with business analysts, I conducted extensive research, including stakeholders interviews.

This research was vital in identifying pain points and areas of inefficiency in existing systems. Through collaborative efforts, we identified key issues and formulated practical ideas to effectively manage the design process.

04 Identified problems

Functionality & User Experience Issues

Platform-specific limitations: Some features are only available on one platform.

Missing Features: Cannot create quick price for multiple-products at onceโ€‹.

Lack of Integration: Fragmented data hinders insights and user experience.

Inconsistent user experience: Existing mobile app UX is not user friendly.

Complex procurement processes: Lead to delays due to confusing procurement processes.

Complex surgical case planning: Lead to coordination errors in surgical procedures.

05 User Journey Mapping

Crafting a User-Centric Solution

My next step was to develop user personas. Using journey mapping techniques, we identified potential pain points and areas of friction across various applications. This proactive approach allowed us to effectively address these issues, resulting in a smoother and more intuitive user experience from product discovery to order fulfillment.

06 Wireframing Ideas

Laying the Groundwork

In the wireframing phase, I focused on simplifying complex health facility medical product procurement process and planning procedure of a surgical case. My approach was to deconstruct these processes into simpler, more intuitive steps, considering both efficiency and ease of use. The wireframes served as a blueprint, outlining the app's basic structure and flow, ensuring that crucial functions were easily accessible and logically organized.

07 Testing

Validating Hypothesis

Low-fidelity prototypes were used in the early stages to present potential solutions and gather early feedback. Given the limited interaction with users during the initial design phase, we conducted several prototype testing sessions with a dedicated focus group provided by stakeholders. Our main goal was to improve the core functionality of the application by collecting feedback early in the design process.

This approach, although limited, provided valuable insights that led to significant improvements in application design. These improvements were subsequently demonstrated to our stakeholders, showcasing improved functionality and app design based on team feedback. This prototype demonstrates how a user creates a New Surgical Case.

08 Updated Visual Design

Refining the User Interface

The high-fidelity mockups for the Healts Facility App provided a realistic representation of the final product, allowing for vital stakeholder feedback and refinement of the UI to align with usability goals and brand identity. These mockups played a crucial role in both validating design choices and facilitating a seamless handoff to the development team, ensuring fidelity between the envisioned and implemented designs.

Outcome Overview

Through rigorous research and iterative design, our team has successfully transformed the efficiency of healthcare management with the Health App project.

By unifying workflows across platforms, streamlining processes, and prioritizing feedback, we have streamlined healthcare workflows to ensure a seamless experience. As a result, we have created an solution that improves the efficiency, satisfaction and overall productivity of users in healthcare settings, paving the way to improved patient care and organizational success.

Business growth

Unified Workflow Integration

Our solution to optimize workflow across multiple platforms and create a single application resulted in a 18% reduction โ†“ in task completion time and increased user efficiency. Reductions in task completion times were measured through uasabilty testing. Quicker tasks completion potentially leading to increased user engagement and loyalty in the future.

Cost savings

Simplified Workflow Processes

By streamlining workflow processes, the app significantly improved operational efficiency within healthcare facilities, potentially reducing errors, saving time, and enhancing overall productivity. This optimization greatly contributes to better resource utilization and substantial cost savings for healthcare organizations, fostering sustainable growth and innovation.

User satisfaction

Iterative Improvement & Stronger Loyalty

Prioritizing user feedback and iterative improvement led to enhanced user satisfaction and usability. Our provided user-centered solution expected to foster stronger user engagement and loyalty, ultimately contributing to the app's success and long-term growth. Also, potentially this approach can lead to increased positive word-of-mouth referrals.
